It's been a while...

Well I'm back. I heard through the grapevine that some people actually look at the blog every once in a while and then I felt bad for not posting more often. Then I realized that there wasn't much new for a bit, just life a usual so I didnt feel quite as bad.

Our most recent excitement was to head to the Sunshine Coast for a long weekend so we loaded Isaac up in the car and made sure he had enough grapes, snacks, cars and books to keeep him occupied and took off. Aric was interested in looking at a woodworking school for future endeavours and we wanted to go back to the coast as we hadn't been there since before we were married (just in case you didnt know we met on Vancouver Island at Camp Qwanoes so there is a warm fuzy spot in my heart for the coast!)

What a whirlwind trip! We drove to Revelstoke the first night and stayed at a hotel and then hit the road again early in the morning after our complimentary breakfast of toast and muffins! After a few hours and a few construction delays (and a really long accident delay) we made it to Vancouver and managed to just miss the ferry by one car! Oh well, we went to the playground at Horseshoe Bay and let Isaac play for a bit. Then it was our turn to load up. Isaac really liked the ferry and was intrigued by how we were going on the water and where we were headed to. He stayed outside for a while and then decided that it was too windy and we went in for a snack (red jello of course!). He even took some pictures with my camera but all that resulted was two shots of the floor of the ferry! Oh well he is trying, he knows to look through the view finder!

Once we arrived and set up our tent we tried to go swimming in the pool but Isaac was not really into it, too tired and too cold. So we hit the sac to recharge for the next day. Friday was beautiful, sunny and warm so we went to Davis Beach just south of Seachelt and what a great place! The tide was low (just starting to come back in) so we got to play in the tidal pools and see all the great things that the ocean has to offer: crabs that tickle your feet as the scuttle over them, shells that have creatures still living in them and some that were vaccated already, and best of all a starfish! Isaac really thought that it was neat and wanted to take it home but we convinced him that it needed to stay and live in the ocean. We found some shells to take home with us instead. Aric and Isaac made some mud castles and I showed Isaac how to sink your feet in the soft mud. What a fun morning!

After that we had lunch and then went to The Inside Passage School of Fine Woodworking in Roberts Creek for Aric to meet the teacher and see the place. Isaac fell asleep on Aric's shoulder so I took him out to the car for a quieter place to sleep. I read a book and watched all the people of Roberts Creek go about their daily business. Not a real busy place compared to Calgary and Vancouver, kind of neat but in some ways a little to 'granola' for me. There was an organic/health food store, a hemp clothing store, a coffee shop, an outdoor adventure shop and that was about it. Not a real metropolitan place at all. I could get used to someting like that, but it might be drastic.

  • Take it from one who lives in a small little "creek" town, its awesome and as long as you make the best of it you never know who or what God will put in your path. I'm glad you blogged!!! Its been a while since we've chatted.
